Abstract

The article focuses on a profession that daily tries to arbitrate the difficult match between production and health in the workplace: the occupational health physician. Starting from the need for more adequate professional recognition reported by this category in Italy, it tries to analyze and interpret some critical issues that emerged from the literature and from the discourses of the professional associations, framing them in the historical

and social context in which this profession takes shape.
