Abstract
The RAV represents a strategic document for schools. As a strategic document, it must be analysed and some of its limits made evident. This article aims to contribute to the current debate on the theme of self-assessment and empirical data that are at the core of the national assessment process by bringing areas of criticism and of possible improvement to the fore. The reflection starts from the awareness that a real self-assessment cannot transcend the specificity of the school context and the quantitative and qualitative self-evaluations of the actors who are part of that context.
