Abstract

One of the many causes that led to the outbreak of the World War I is certainly to be found in the ideology of Nationalism, which was pivotal in the course of the 19.Century. But this phenomenon cannot by itself explain the complexity of the World’s conflict. The paper intends to consider not only the multiplicity of social, political and economic causes, which brought about the "clap of the thunder", but also the importance of the cultural ones, including philosophical tendencies such as Positivism, Rationalism, Neo-Romanticism, and Neo-Idealism.
