Italienische Theater-Inszenierungen von Der gute Gott von Manhattan

Abstract

The article examines some contemporary Italian theatrical performances inspired by Ingeborg Bachmann's most successful radio play Der gute Gott von Manhattan (1958). After a short reconstruction of its reception both in Germany and in Italy, the essay describes the Italian theatrical performances by Imogen Kusch and Francesca Garolla, basing not only on the few existing critical literature, but also on information collected during telephonic interviews with the directors.
